It seems to run pretty normal when cold, but a few minutes after reaching normal running temp, it gradually seems to idle rougher and rougher, it's low on power and there's a drop in oil pressure. There was also a noticeable drip ftom the tail pipe. The reason they did this is they wanted the oil to be hotter and the exhaust gas temps to be lower. By having lower exhaust gas temps they were able to run 20% exhaust gas in the cylinder on the compression stroke rather than the normal 10%. Believe it or not, this actually increased fuel economy by 5 to 6%.

This is how it got last weekend on a 10 mile climb at 10% grade. Key Facts: Temp rises only during hard/uphill driving.
